Lifelines to the home
Utilities are the worlds extension cords into our homes. Power resources like natural gas, propane and electricity are major, long distance services. More locally centered service include water, sewer and trash removal. Communication utilities might include, phone, internet, cable tv and satellite services. The convenience of these connections is startling when you realize that many come from hundreds or even thousands of miles away.

So it is important to know who provides these services, who to contact in event of a failure and where they are connected to your home. It is also good to know how to disconnect each of these in an emergency.
